How The Family History Of Kidney Diseases Lead To Kidney Failure?

Abstract:

Diseases that run in families generally become a reason for kidney failure. These kidney diseases are often known as Chronic Kidney Diseases. It has been observed in many patients that they come complaining about symptoms like having pain in the abdominal area, swelling in legs and feet, blood in urine, etc. It is necessary to get an effective treatment right from stage 1 of Chronic kidney diseases to prevent the loss that can happen in the future.

Kidney diseases can be characterized in two ways; Acute Kidney Disease or Injury and Chronic Kidney Diseases. Both these types of diseases lead to the situation of kidney failure. Chronic Kidney Disease is a type of disease that affects the functioning of kidneys in the past but is effecting in present. These diseases can be because of the presence of the defected gene or mutated gene or may be inherited from the biological parents and their ancestors. Acute Kidney Diseases are diseases that attack the functioning of kidneys all of a sudden.

Chronic Kidney Disease: Chronic Kidney Diseases are diseases that are depriving the condition of kidneys for a longer period. A diseased patient may not observe the difference in health at the initial stages but it slowly deprives the condition of kidneys gradually.
A test naming eGFR level can help in knowing the functioning of kidneys at all the different five stages.

Stages of chronic kidney diseases:

• Stage 1: This is the initial stage of kidney diseases that leaves symptoms like mild cold & flu, fever & cough. These symptoms may be treated at home considering a seasonal change. At this stage, the estimated Glomeruli Filteration Rate is 90 ml/min.
• Stage 2: This is the stage that grows with a little seriousness, and start to give symptoms like frequent cramps in muscles, liver spots, dark red spots on belly and gastrointestinal problems. The estimated Glomeruli Filteration Rate is between 60-89 ml/min.
• Stage 3: This is the third stage of CKD and it starts to get serious by now. By this stage, you need to start with the type of treatment your body needs. The estimated Glomeruli Filteration Rate is between 45-59 ml/min.
• Stage 4: This is the stage where your kidneys almost lose all the abilities to perform their functions and if left untreated then it may land to the troubles like kidney failure or multiple organ failure. The eGFR level drops down to the levels between 15-29 ml/min.
• Stage 5: By this stage, your kidneys have lost the ability to perform their functions or maybe are damaged. This is the stage when you are left with only one option to survive and that is a kidney transplant. The estimated Glomeruli Filteration Rate drops down less than 15 ml/min.

This condition requires immediate treatment so that the necessary actions can be taken immediately. The methods people usually opt for is dialysis or renal transplant. But sometimes it becomes difficult to get a donor at that next time. Dialysis, on the other hand, requires lots of machinery and other necessary equipment which may or may not be available at the time you need the most.
